Opening on October 8, 1910 with Weber's Jubel Overture, Schiller's Wallenstein's Camp and the Scene on the Festival Meadow from Richard Wagner's Mastersingers.

1939 renovation of the auditorium, removal of the essential parts of the original Jugendstil decoration.
1944 severe damages by bomb attacks.
1949 very simple restoration, 1962 rebuilding and removal of the characteristic Jugendstil pediment which was not destroyed during the war.
